I have created meaningful relationships through good rapport and having a genuine interest in my squad mate’s well being and goals; I am proactive in answering questions and providing guidance in our team Slack channel to aid in my squad mate's individual and our team's success. Further, I seek my squad mate's perspectives and opinions on subjects that are unclear to me or areas I can improve.
I have honest and valuable conversations individually with my squad mates often praising their strengths even sometimes, challenging their problematic behaviours that I have observed which are either negatively impactful to the team or to themselves hurting their chances for escalated roles in the company. I am able to confidently deliver this feedback without causing tension through developing a strong trust battery with the team. My genuine care for their success and the teams success allows me to provide critical feedback with sensitivity and empathy.
During Support Summit last year at UBC, I assisted my SL at the time, Lane Matkovich, by taking the lead on taking care of the team's travel logistics for dinner. Additionally during this trip, I made sure Brock S. had a team to have dinner with when he posted in the Summit channel saying his squad was in Ottawa.
Before Jen, a previous guru of Shopify, left the company, I coordinated a group chat with the squad in private to discuss how we would say our farewell to show Jen our appreciation for the work and contribution she has provided to the team.
